Pastor’s Greeting

Welcome to the German Seventh-Day Baptist web site.
While the name indicates our heritage, it does not say what is most important about us. We are, primarily, Evangelical Christians who hold to the historical tenets that have characterized the Church through almost two millennia, such as the authority of scripture and salvation by grace. We are also a group that attempts to manifest God’s love in our relationships with one another and with those around us.
The term “German” in our name indicates that our heritage lies in the work of those who came from Germany and settled in Pennsylvania, although not all of us today are from that ethnic stock. The reference to the “Seventh-Day” tells that we gather for worship on the Sabbath (Saturday), believing that day to be the one God ordained for His people to congregate and to rest. We are Baptists because we hold to the distinctives characterizing that particular branch of Protestantism, such as believer’s baptism by immersion, congregational polity, and religious liberty.
I hope that you will find the information here helpful. If you have any questions, please write, and I will try to answer them. If you are in the Salemville or the Snowhill area, consider joining us for worship and study. May the grace of our Lord Jesus, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you.
Rev. Paul Manuel, Ph.D. |
